01Picturing ΔH

On an energy diagram, products lower than reactants means exothermic; higher means endothermic.

The diagram's peak is kinetics (Ea); the level difference is thermodynamics (ΔH).

02Notebook box

ΔH = H(products) − H(reactants).

Worked example: Reactants 200 kJ, products 150 kJ → ΔH = −50 kJ.
